In the year following, she was cast in the ABC program Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. In addition to being a popular singer, she also released her own solo album as well as an extended version. In her role as an activist, she is a tireless advocate in the cause of LGBT equality.
